The next event in our spring reading series takes place this Thursday with a poetry reading. Join us in celebrating new books by IUSB-affiliated poets: Nancy Botkin teaches in the English Department and Charmi Keranen is a recent alum who just published her first collection.

The event free and open to the public. Following the reading, there will be a question and answer session, along with a book signing. The books by both writers will be available for purchase.
Nancy Botkin’s poetry has been published in numerous journals including Poetry, Poetry East, Sycamore Review, Passages North, Fifth Wednesday Journal, The Laurel Review, The Midwest Quarterly, Eclipse, American Literary Review and The South Dakota Review. “Poem with Light and Dark,” won first prize in the 2005 Maize Poetry Prize sponsored by the Writers’ Center of Indianapolis. Ted Kooser chose “Geometry” for American Life in Poetry. Her first chapbook, Signs of Life, was published by No Exit Press in 1999. Her full-length poetry collection, Parts That Were Once Whole, was published by Mayapple Press in 2007. In 2009, March Street Press published her chapbook In Waves. A third chapbook, Bent Elbow and Distance, was published by Finishing Line Press in August 2011.
Charmi Keranen holds a BA in English from Indiana University South Bend. Her poetry has appeared in Passages North, The Salt River Review, JMWW, Stirring, blossombones, elimae, The Dirty Napkin, Ouroboros Review, Sugar House Review, Inter|rupture, Grasslimb Journal and Hot Metal Bridge. She and her husband live in Northern Indiana, where she works as a freelance writer and proofreader of court transcripts.
