The public is invited to attend an informal discussion with Joyelle McSweeney, professor at Notre Dame, writer, and “co-founder and co-editor of Action Books (www.actionbooks.org), a poetry and translation press, and Action, Yes (www.actionyes.org), a web-quarterly for international writing and hybrid forms.”
She will be happy to take questions about contemporary literature, translation, and publishing. She might even answer some questions about her own work.

Global Women Writers Now / Notre Dame Women Writers Festival 2009

This interdisciplinary festival features Kim Hyesoon, one of the most prominent female writers in Korea and a founder of Another Culture, a movement for women’s studies in Korea; and Laura Solórzano, an emerging Mexican poet, editor and educator. Translators Don Mee Choi, a poet and anthologist of contemporary Korean women’s writing, and Jen Hofer, a poet and anthologist of contemporary Mexican women’s writing, will also attend. This interdisciplinary festival will consist of a trilingual reading, a panel on women and literary culture in Korea and Mexico, an open mic for students, and a roundtable on the practice and politics of translation.
